STARTING OCTOBER 1ST, WE WILL BE OFFERING ADULT AND YOUTH KICKBOXING.
Our boxing program is becoming a boxing/kickboxing program and will train 4 times a week. Classes run Monday and Wednesday for boxing at 6:30pm, Thursday at 6:30pm and Saturday at 10:00am for kickboxing. Our boxing/kickboxing program is under one membership and you can come to all four classes.
At Stanley Boxing & Fitness our boxing and kickboxing programs have a dual purpose; creating champions in the ring, and creating young champions in life. By using the sport of boxing, as well as a health and fitness related lifestyle, we aim to help individuals fulfil their broader potential by staying clear of crime and violence and progressing in education and employment.
Our Youth Boxing/Kickboxing Program is for ages 13-17 and is designed to develop coordination, agility, speed, and strength which is a strong foundation for all athletics and carries over to many other sports, and into life.

While our program offers a competitive environment, the athlete's development, experience, and safety are our first priorities. Athletes can begin their training at nine years of age, however we do not allow them to compete until the age of 11. Our head coach has been involved in the sport for 31 years and considers the athletes development his personal responsibility. In order to ensure safety and confidence of our young athletes, they are only allowed to compete once they satisfy our offence and defence criteria.
Our coaches are certified and experienced, with Head coach John Stanley being the only level three coach in the North. Coach John has produced 9 National Champions, three of whom come from Yellowknife, and over thirty provincial champions.
You don’t have to be a champion in our gym, but we will teach you to conduct yourself as one. We are the only active competition gym in the NWT and affiliated with NWT Boxing and Boxing Canada. Our competitive program is designed to develop a complete range of skills, while allowing each athlete to develop a style more suitable for them. We focus on the three C’ s of champion. Coachability, Concentration and conditioning.
The 3 C’s of a Champion
Concentration
Improve your child’s confidence, focus, and discipline.
Conditioning
Build a strong work-ethic with a proper introduction to fitness.
Coachability
Develop an open-mind and winning attitude.
Our program is run by experienced and passionate coaches. We offer a team-oriented, fun, and safe atmosphere. Boxing and kickboxing has many transferrable life skills and our goal is to instil these values for your child’s athletic and personal development.
